Beginner Quilling Instructions

For those who don’t know what Quilling is:

“Quilling or paper filigree, is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is wound around a quill to create a basic coil shape. The paper is then glued at the tip and these shaped coils are arranged to form flowers, leaves, and various ornamental patterns similar to ironwork.” (from Wikipedia).

Here you have some basic quilling shapes

and basic quilling tools:

Beginner Quilling

  • 3mm paper quilling strips ( something red on the right side),
  • quilling needle, scissors and quilling paper (allows me to make small centres in rolls and scrolls ),
  • quilling tweezers ( the silver ones, are extremely useful for holding, gluing, positioning and assembling the quilled pieces) ,
  • scissors are scissors,
  • and the pencil is to show you how BIG these tools are 😀

  1. So glad someone has a few instructions, I didn’t even know where to start but after seeing so much Quilling, I just know I am going to teach myself how to do this. Thank you so much for the pictures of tools. Off to the store….. and getting started. Thanks!!!!
